Dear Medicine Family,

We are living through something profound.

You can feel it. In the Earth, in the stars, in the longing that brought you here to read these words right now. My Quechua-Aymara ancestors and the ancient prophecies of the Condor and the Eagle spoke of this time. A time when the peoples of the heart and the peoples of the mind would finally come together, when a new intelligence would rise on this planet, weaving the human, the divine, the spirit, and the Earth into something whole again. That time is now. We are inside it. And every system, astrological, ecological, technological, spiritual, is confirming what the ancestors always knew was coming.

In the middle of all of it, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I tell you this because I want you to understand where this workshop is coming from. While the world was shifting on every axis, my body asked me to go deeper than I ever had. And the practice that held me, the one I returned to every single day, was prayer.

Here is what I find profound about this moment: science is finally beginning to catch up to what our ancestors lived. Researchers have been studying prayer since at least 1872. Studies show that prayer reduces stress, improves cardiovascular health, strengthens mental wellbeing, and increases what scientists call "the will to live." The Washington Post called prayer the most common complement to medicine in the world, more widely used than acupuncture, herbs, vitamins, or any other healing practice. Something in the human body and spirit knows it needs this. We have always known.

And yet so many of us arrive at prayer confused, or distant from it, or carrying the weight of a relationship with the divine that was handed to us rather than chosen. For many of our lineages, prayer was colonized. It became something imposed, a transaction with a God who required performance, obedience, and the erasure of our earth-based knowing. The living, breathing conversation with Pachamama, with the ancestors, with the intelligence that moves through all of creation, that was systematically replaced.

We are living in a time when that replacement is cracking open.

The new intelligence rising on this planet is asking us to integrate. The analytical and the ancestral. The technological and the sacred. The human mind and the divine heart. And I believe prayer is one of the most important technologies we carry into that integration. The kind rooted in the earth. The kind that speaks to Pachamama and the ancestors. The kind that lives in my Quechua and Aymara lineage as ayni, sacred reciprocity, a continuous conversation with life itself.

This is what held me through my diagnosis. I prayed to ask for what I needed with my whole heart. I prayed to learn how to receive. I prayed to stay in right relationship with the earth and with my own life, even on the days I was afraid.

I believe you are carrying something too. This is a time of profound change and profound invitation, and the question this moment is asking all of us is the same one my body asked me: can you go deeper? Can you remember what you already know?

On May 9, I am holding a workshop for our community. We are going to learn to pray together in a way that is powerful. In the way of our ancestors. In the way of the earth. In a way that honors this extraordinary moment in human history. How to ask with your whole heart. How to receive what is already moving toward you. How to trust the unseen in a time when so much is being revealed.

This is the medicine of our time. And it has always lived inside you.

What We Are Gathering For

This is a live workshop on Zoom on May 9. For two and a half hours, we gather as a medicine community to learn, practice, and pray together.

This is a space, alive with teaching and practice drawn from Indigenous earth-based wisdom traditions. Indigenous technology. The Quechua concept of ayni as sacred reciprocity. The elements of prayer that our ancestors practiced as a living, breathing conversation with the earth and all her relations. You will be guided through teachings that have been carried for generations, offered here for this exact moment in time.

You will leave with an embodied prayer practice that belongs to you. Rooted in the earth, in your own lineage, and in the living relationship with the divine that has been waiting for you to return to it.

What You Will Carry Home

  • A living, embodied understanding of decolonized prayer  what it feels like to pray from belonging rather than from separation

  • The framework of ayni  how sacred reciprocity transforms the way you ask, receive, and give back

  • Practices for asking with your whole heart  releasing the places where prayer has felt small, distant, or out of reach

  • An earth-based receiving practice  so you recognize and welcome what is already moving toward you

  • Tools for working with the elements, and your ancestors  in your daily prayer life from this workshop forward

  • A two-week recording  to return to the workshop and let the medicine land deeper each time

The prophecies said this time would call us back to ourselves.

This workshop is for everyone who feels that call.

  • You sense that something larger is moving through this moment in history and you want to meet it with your whole spirit.

  • You grew up with a religious tradition and something in you is ready to find your own living, earth-rooted conversation with the divine.

  • You are from a lineage whose earth-based spiritual practices were disrupted, and the memory of those practices is asking to be awakened.

  • You have a prayer life and something inside you is asking to go deeper, to ask more freely, to receive more fully, to trust more completely.

  • You are carrying something hard right now and you want a place to bring it, to learn to pray alongside community, to be held.

  • Something is opening in you and you are ready for grounded, ancestral guidance to meet it.

Come as you are, wherever you are in your relationship with the sacred.

The longing that brought you here is the prayer already beginning.

About Xóchitl Kusikuy Ashe

Xóchitl Kusikuy Ashe comes from a long line of healers. A fifth-generation Afro-Indigenous Quechua Aymara medicine woman, she was initiated into her ancestral traditions at 16, becoming the first woman in five generations to receive these teachings. That initiation was not a beginning so much as a remembering.

For over 30 years, she has sat in ceremony, worked with plant medicines, and walked alongside thousands of people healing their lineage, their lives, and their relationship with the earth. She is the founder of Pachamama School, creator of the Sacred Mushroom Oracle Deck (Hay House), and has brought her teachings to Stanford University, Esalen Institute, and ceremonies across the world.

Prayer is at the center of everything she does. Not as religion, not as performance, but as direct communication with life itself. In this workshop, she brings what she has gathered from decades of ceremony and daily devotional practice into a space where you can find your own voice in prayer and remember what it feels like to be truly heard.

She lives this work. And she will meet you in it.
