Why
México, Why Psilocybin Mushrooms?
Long before science discovered psilocybin's potential for treating depression and supporting mental health, Indigenous peoples of México revered it as sacred medicine. In the ancient Nahuatl language, psilocybin mushrooms are called "teonanacatl" – the "Flesh of God."
In the misty valleys of México's Central Highlands, Mazatec medicine people still conduct sacred mushroom ceremonies, preserving practices that stretch back millennia. Despite centuries of persecution, the resilient Mazatec people have kept this profound knowledge alive.
Today, we're witnessing a revival. The healing power of psilocybin, once suppressed, is spreading worldwide – a testament to indigenous wisdom and this natural medicine's undeniable efficacy.

Founder Xóchitl Ashé, created Magical Medicine Journeys, an indigenous and women-owned psilocybin retreat company, to guide others in the legal use of Mazatec Psilocybin Mushrooms. Xóchitl’s mission is to honor the traditional indigenous knowledge and ceremony of sacred plant medicine and provide the most authentic and powerful life changing experiences.
At 16 years old, Xóchitl Ashé became the first female of five generations of men to be initiated into the healing traditions of her Peruvian ancestral lineage. She is a Medicine Woman in the Peruvian Andean tradition and has worked with sacred plant medicines since the time of her initiation. For the past 23 years, she apprenticed under her Godfather, a Mazatec Medicine Man of the ancient tradition of healing with the "Nti-si tho" "Santitos" or Psilocybin mushrooms, who worked under Maria Sabina.
In her practice, Xóchitl focuses on the healing of generational trauma and the ways in which that trauma impairs our ability to thrive, create wealth, and have a positive impact on the world. Over the past 20 years, Xóchitl (So-chil) Kusikuy Ashé has been a guide in both ceremonies and workshops, and a Visionary Mentor for Leaders, Entrepreneurs and Creatives.
