How to work with helpful ancestors vs mischievous ones

In the indigenous Andean curanderismo (ancestral medicine) of Peru, they say that we get our genes from our parents but our magic from our grandparents.When we connect to the essence of our ancestors there is nothing that we cannot do, be or have. 

This is a sacred relationship with the beings in our lineage that have walked on the earth and experienced both trauma and joy and have so much to give to us. We are their dreams come true, we are the evolution of their deepest heart's prayer. Of course they want us to succeed on our path and they want us to realize the dreams that they weren't able to.

It is important to be mindful on what ancestors we call. Some of them endure traumas so deep that they weren't able to heal in their lifetime or in the next realm. What this means is that there is a possibility that their trauma can bind them to earth and they did not choose to transcend into the spirit world. They are in the in-between realm, still dealing with these traumas and not able to help us for they still need to help themselves. Sometimes this makes them mischievous, for they might still be filled with anger, jealousy, or rage, and in order to process their own emotions they become heavy energetically and can sabotage you instead of being helpful. Of course we bare no ill-will to them, as they are still our family and on their own evolutionary path. We do our own inner work because this is what will really heal them so they can return to the spirit world.

How then do we call upon the helpful ancestors, who are like magical angels amplifying our own super-powers and being benevolent guides?
It is actually very simple. We use the power of our sacred words and when we do any ceremony or ritual we say: “I call only on my ancestors from mothers' and fathers' side who have done the work in this realm or the next to support me and my most beautiful, joyous, and prosperous life.” These magical words set you up for complete success when working with your ancestors.

I have noticed that from the moment when I started working with my ancestors I have never felt alone. I always feel supported by them, it is like I have a powerful entourage. I envision myself walking through any door with about a hundred or more powerful spirits who are conspiring to support me on my mission.
